Self Healing Research: Good Sam I Am

Research Associated with the Compassion Theory of Healing & Health

1. Local Healing Research.

"Local healing" involves traditional and alternative medicine, which when combined are now called integrative medicine by Dr. Andrew Weil. It is referred to as "local" to differentiate it from nonlocal or distant which is purely mental effort to help others, such as sending positive thoughts, well-wishing and prayer at a distance without the receiver knowing.

2. Distant Healing Research.

There is a rapidly growing body of research involving the use of our attention and positive intention such as prayer and well-wishing from a distance (nonlocal). Because attention/intention is initiated from our mind and seems capable of having effects independently of space and time, for example half way around the world faster than the speed of light, it is necessary to introduce a new concept to include this phenomenon. “Consciousness” is the essence of the universe of which everyone and everything is composed. Like vortices in an ocean, we are of it and it is in us. Some have called it universal mind, spirit or God. Research indicates that it is as if consciousness seems to know what we are doing before we do it.

One of the newest and most comprehensive collections of research on this subject has been compiled by Schwartz and Dossey with Larry Dossey, MD, one of its most prolific and interesting writers. Click on this

3.The Validity of Measuring Health, Happiness, and Longevity on Word Scales

Recent research shows that our subjective response to questions similar to, “Would you say your overall level of health is excellent, very good, good, fair or poor?” predicts our actual health and death better than physician assessments from patient physicals and their objective variables of past and present diseases and conditions. The same question answers predict health differences between groups with different incidences of disease. It is also possible that by choosing higher or lower points on the scale you will change your health in that direction. Validity
